Holiday Treats: Candy Cane Chocolate Dipped Pretzels

 Candy Cane Chocolate Dipped Pretzels

My daughter goes to a cookie exchange party every year at Christmas time.  This year we decided to make this easy and delicious treat. 

Here are the ingredients we used.  I like to get the pretzels that don't have the salt on them, but I'm sure the salted ones will be just as tasty!

Step One:

Unwrap all the candy canes and put them in a large bag with a seal.  Put the bag on the counter, and with the back side of a wooden spoon, break up the candy canes into little bits.

Step Two:

Heat the semi sweet chocolate chips in a double boiler.  Stir frequently.  You will need to add either vegetable shortening or oil, a tablespoon at a time until the chocolate becomes thin enough for dipping.

Step Three:

Dip the pretzels into the chocolate one at a time until they are coated.  We found that using a fork was the best way to do this.  After dipping, lay them out on waxed paper to dry.

Step Four:

After the chocolate has dried, melt the white chocolate and drizzle it over the chocolate dipped pretzels.  Immediately sprinkle each with a little bit of the candy cane.

Allow to dry before transferring them to a serving platter.  Enjoy!

If you love mint and chocolate together you will love these Candy Cane Chocolate dipped pretzels.   They remind me a little of Thin Mints but with a little crunch from the candy.  Very easy to make and a festive treat to serve at Holiday parties, or to give as gifts!  Enjoy!
