Go Thrifting!! It's Good for the Earth!

In honor of Earth Day, or what seems to have become Earth Week, I thought I would blog regarding something that is one of my FAVORITE past times.....Thrifting! Here are a few of the reasons I absolutely adore scavenging for amazing finds...

1. It allows you to bring new life to something that might otherwise wind up in a landfill.
2. You are able to creatively interpret how something old and dated can look new and modern.
3. Saves you $$$$ on your clothing budget!
4. Super rush of adrenaline when you find the diamond in the rough and it is your size!!!
5. Thrift stores, like Goodwill and Salvation Army, provide jobs and other valuable resources to communities all across the country.

I thought I would also show you a couple of items that I have found recently that positively make me smile. These do not have any historic or vintage value and they are not name brand items (which you can find thrifting), just items I love to wear :)

The navy dress is a handmade, and originally intended to be a house dress. I love to wear this with a wide belt and sandals. So cute for Spring! The green tunic was originally part of a skirt set. This is so fun to wear with a belt, leggings and boots in the Fall. Two great outfits that didn't break the bank!!

So if you're wondering what to do this weekend, take a little time to go check out your local thrift stores. Be prepared to dig, but also be prepared to find amazing undiscovered treasures and help save the Earth!!
