how to tuesday:: fall displays are a ball of fun.

It's that time of year again. Fall. Time for cooler weather, candy corn and feathering your nest for Autumn. The budget has been a little tight but I'm not going to let that stop me! I love decorating with everyday items and LOVE the way mundane items can make a big impact when grouped together.

This is a quick, simple display that cost me less $2 using items any crafter should have on hand.

Start winding the yarn around a handful of stuffing. Keep the yarn moving in various directions. It may look a mess at first, but as the yarn builds it will come together.

After the yarn ball is the desired size, cut the yarn and secure the end down with hot glue.

Make as many that you need. Personally, I love displays in odd numbers.

I filled one of my favorite glass canisters with 5 yarn balls in various sizes. To top it off I stuck a pair of wooden knitting needles into one of the balls. Honestly, they were too long for the lid so I had my hubby saw them down. You know, I don't knit anyway!

I love this little project. Yes, anyone can throw some balls of yarn into a jar... but not for $2. Wouldn't this make a cute display for an upcoming craft show or shop? I happen to like it right where it is, on top of a stack of books on my favorite secretary.

By the way, I'm Cindy with revel designs. This is my first post on the Etsy Fort Worth blog after recently joining. Let me know what you think. It was so great to meet some fellow local artisans at the monthly meeting. After blogging and having an online shop for a awhile, it's so refreshing to hear people talk about what they are up to IN PERSON!

What a great idea! It would give a nice touch to a craft show booth. Maybe next to the candy bowl. :)
